Fruitbat’s Update 11/02/23 Young Leaders Training
In which Young Leaders engage in county training

A few weeks ago a group of 4 Young Leaders from 6th Rugby took part in a training day which was run by Warwickshire County Training Team. I tagged along to meet the team and to find out some more about the training and what to expect from our Young Leaders.

a-z Games
Game On!
The Young Leaders came up with an entire alphabet of games. They discussed the different types of games and how they can be used and support a fun and educational programme for their sections.

The day wasn't all fun and games though. The Young Leaders also discussed inclusion and accessibility within scouting. How to make Scouting fair and available to all. They had some very interesting insights and showed incredible awareness and compassion.

The Young Leaders enjoyed playing a communication game where, in two teams they needed to retrieve a target.  One member was blindfolded and a second was allowed to direct them. However the director was facing away from the ball (which was the hidden target). The remaining team could see the target and could advise the director, but without speaking.

Further training was undertaken - I'll refer to my notes and add some more later.

The Young Leaders also played - Last Chair Standing and the took part in a demonstration where they found out that although they were all completing the same task, their experience of it was vastly different depending on where they were placed.
